Dressing Boys Obsession Part 1: Bow Ties

With two boys I am always so envious in a not so envious way when I go shopping for them. There is always so many cute things for the little girls but it is usually always a challenge to find something for my little men! Well, recently I have been inspired by a close friend of ours who we shared sometime with this weekend at a wedding. He is the king of bow ties and I have been thinking, why not spice up the boys wardrobe a bit!

This just so happens I thought of this as a theme for one of my coworkers baby showers we are throwing in July!!!

I came across this really great shop on Etsy, called Hunter Gatherer. They have some really handsome vintagey fabric ties that I adore!!!!

How to tie a bow tie....

How cute....I'm on a mission to get super creative with the boys and their outfits!!! I have some really great fabric and can't wait to figure out how make bow ties for them!!

RECIPE: Ronita’s Tropical Goddess Green Smoothie

This smoothie is inspired by, The Retro Natural’s, take on a green smoothie.
Here is my take on a yummy delicious and nutritious breakfast smoothie! I keep all of these ingredients in my pantry and love making this for breakfast before I head out to work!!! It's a perfect summertime breakfast!!!
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • ½ fresh mango (or frozen mango pieces from Trader Joe’s)
  • ½ frozen banana (I go to the produce store and get all the red tape bananas, peel them, break them in half, and place them in a freezer bag-they are perfect for smoothies-just grab and go)
  • ¼ cup pineapple tidbits
  • ¼ cup coconut milk
  • ¼ cup pineapple juice-from the can of tidbits
  •  If you like ice add a couple cubes
Blend and I carry it in my handy dandy reusable cup with a straw (Mommy’s sippy cup…lol)

ENJOY!!!

SUPER-food SPOTLIGHT: Cinnamon

(via)

I mentioned in a previous post, here,  how honey has so many natural healing qualities. I want to share with you another inexpensive, natural SUPER FOOD; CINNAMON. I picked up a bottle from Trader Joe’s ($1.99)  and keep it on my desk. I sprinkle it on/in everything, from my morning cereal to my afternoon cup of tea!!!
Look at all the health benefits!

• Studies have shown that just 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon per day can lower LDL cholesterol.

• Several studies suggest that cinnamon may have a regulatory effect on blood sugar, making it especially beneficial for people with Type 2 diabetes.

• In some studies, cinnamon has shown an amazing ability to stop medication-resistant yeast infections.

• In a study published by researchers at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Maryland, cinnamon reduced the proliferation of leukemia and lymphoma cancer cells.

• It has an anti-clotting effect on the blood.

• In a study at Copenhagen University, patients given half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder combined with one tablespoon of honey every morning before breakfast had significant relief in arthritis pain after one week and could walk without pain within one month.

• When added to food, it inhibits bacterial growth and food spoilage, making it a natural food preservative.

• One study found that smelling cinnamon boosts cognitive function and memory.

• Researchers at Kansas State University found that cinnamon fights the E. coli bacteria in unpasteurized juices.

• It is a great source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium.
