Slowly saying goodbye to summer

I walked out the door this morning and was hit with an instant feeling that summer is slowly leaving making room for fall. The chill in the air and the cool breeze got me thinking about all the things I need to do to get ready for fall. Prepare the house for back to school, switch out clothes to allow for more layering and all the fun things I can't wait to do!

Here is collection of my goodbye summer hello fall musings...

goodbye summer

1. Thinking of doing a big hair transformation, cut and color 2. celebrating my 30th birthday with fun festivities  3. candles, candles, candles
4. preserving the flavors of summer
5. dark and plumy nails 6. busting out the boots 6. healing soaks in the bath

I'm sad to see summer pass bye but I know she will return.

{Seattle Take 2: Fashion Night Out}

Thursday night we went to Fashion Night Out at Bellevue Shopping Center. Most of the stores participated in the fun. There were cupcakes and champagne, makeovers and deals deals deals.

I had a fun time sharing this night with my sisters.
By the end of it my feet were done but what a great night!

{friends and FNO Seattle}

In 4 days I will be in Seattle with my 2 beautiful line sisters!!
When I tell you this is much needed...this is much needed. We tried to make it happen in early August but weather was against us. I am determined to get out there this time. On top of cuddle time, fantastic dinners, yummy brunches, girl talk and beauty time I look forward to spending an evening with them at Seattle Bellevue's Fashion Night Out.

How are you celebrating FNO, Sept 6th?

{Cincy Chic's 2012 Red, Pink and Blue Fashion Show }

 Saturday, Cincy Chic put on their annual Red, Pink and Blue Fashion Show benefiting 3 amazing organizations, the American Heart Association, Pink Ribbon Girls and the Diabetes Association. The show began with a welcome from Amy Scalia and a great ceremony honoring 3 local survivors.

We supported the BLUE because it hits so close to home.

The weather was warm and breezy and the music was just right.

Fashion at it's finest...

Me and the hubby at the show!

What a fun show.

If you are in the Cincy area check out Cincy Chic for more events around town.

{DIY J. Crew Dupe}

J. Crew has added a new line of cloth bracelets to their collection. I may just purchase one because of the mission of the bracelet but wow look at my DIY dupe.

Indego Africa is a nonprofit enterprise that partners with women artisans in Rwanda to bring their brilliantly colored and completely handcrafted pieces to the rest of the world. And that's just the beginning of the company's commitment to social change: Indego went above and beyond in the name of empowerment, creating a business training program to encourage entrepreneurship and independence among the artisans. Woven from locally sourced Dutch wax cloth, these brightly hued pieces might just be the ultimate friendship bracelets.

My Dupe

I need to cut the frays but overall an easy quick bracelet.

I purchased a ton of African wax print material a while back so I plan on making more of these J. Crew inspired bracelets.

What do you think?

Styling Boys: End of Year Musical

Can you believe it's the end of the school year?
I remember posting his first day of Kindergarten pictures like it was yesterday.

Instead of the typical Kindergarten Graduation Tre's school is hosting a Kindergarten Spring Musical to showcase what the kids have learned throughout the year. The note that was sent home said that this would be a fun time to dress the kids up in dresses and shirts and ties. Well...as I have expressed in previous posts, here and here,  I have a huge frustration when it comes to boy's clothing selections. I find myself shopping in the boy's section and hopelessly gazing down the girl's aisle.

For this occasion, I have set myself on a styling mission to put together an outfit out of the norm. I know when we go to the musical I will see an endless sea of khaki pants, blazers, and red neck ties...here is what I had in mind for Master William. I'm still using his school colors, giving him a bit of a formal edge but adding a dapper urban flare...

I know he will rock it with confidence!

Pictures to come.
