Ready for Spring

I think the warm weather today is making me crave spring and boy when it comes I will be ready. I'm sad that we didn't have a major snow storm this winter- no sledding, snowball fights or building snowmen.
Since we didn't, the sun and warmth I am eagerly awaiting.
No more dreary grey days.

Here are some of the things I will be enjoying this spring... not all at once of course.
Spring Fling 2012

Just Sinful

Last week, Walgreens had their Sinful Professional Nail Colors on sale for $.99 and I stocked up.
These will add a punch of color to my spring and summer wardrobe.

These polishes are budget friendly and with the addition of a base coat and top coat will make for perfect manis and pedis!!

I can't wait for warmer weather.

Are you going to try anything new to spice up your beauty routine this spring?

Snapshots of Mardi Gras 2012

As soon as we got in my first stop was to pick up a fried shrimp po'boy sandwhich!

Friday night, I got all dressed up and joined my cousins for the annual Zulu Coronation Ball. It was a night of elegant ball gowns and tuxedos, delicious food and on time drinks. We danced until 4am.

Saturday we slept!!!

Sunday, we went to a Mardi Gras church service and enjoyed King Cake and that good ole' church punch right after service.

Sunday night we caught some night parades and ended the evening with some fresh beignets from Cafe Du Monde!

Monday, we enjoyed all the beautiful parades that took part in Lundi Gras! We came home with three big bags of beads and throws.

Tueday, Mardi Gras Day, we had a ball. We caught the Zulu, REX and the truck parades.

We ran into some Indians and even did a little dancing in the streets.

Overall we had an amazing time and I know the boys will never forget their special time in New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2012.

I have videos I will try to load soon.

Until next time..

Ronita

This weekend I am going to another Mardi Gras party held by The Men of Omega Psi Phi here in the city.
I will post pictures next week!

We're Going to New Orleans

New Orleans Mardi Gras
New Orleans Mardi Gras by mrsrjdean featuring sequin dresses

I can not wait until Thursday, the boys myself, my mom and stepdad are heading to the Crescent City to celebrate Mardi Gras with our family! Although I will miss Scott I am glad to be sharing Mardi Gras with the boys.

Here are some of the things I plan on doing while down there.

1. Catching parades- between the Endymion, Bacchus and Zulu I know the boys will love seeing the bands and the ornate floats.
2. I picked up
3. Jay-Z's Decoded from the library and plan on digging into it on the road.
3. Special request from Scott- stock up on Zapp's potato chips  and of course I will stock up on my Camelia's beans.
4. I'm hoping to get a couple pounds of some boiled crawfish. I hope they are in season!
5. I can't wait to hit up the Zulu Ball at the convention center with some of my cousins. This dress reminds me of the one I will be wearing.
6. Special request from Tre'- he wants to ride the street car again. This time we will do St. Charles route to see all the fancy houses.
7. KING CAKE and pralines- sugar overload!
8. A second line- I love second lines and know the boys will love to dance to the music.

Laissez les bons temps rouler

Josephine Josephine...

Last weekend I came across The Josephine Baker Story movie on TVOne starring Lynn Whitfield. Boy was I intrigued and moved to do a little research.
I admired her persistence courage and strong will to integrate where ever she was, on stage, restaurants, the military...

Josephine Baker (June 3, 1906 – April 12, 1975) was a dancer, singer, and actress who found fame in her adopted homeland of France. Born in St Louis, Missouri, she renounced her American citizenship in 1937 to become French. She was given such nicknames as the "Bronze Venus", the "Black Pearl", and the "Créole Goddess"
Baker was the first African American female to star in a major motion picture, to integrate an American concert hall, and to become a world-famous entertainer. She is also noted for her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement in the United States (she was offered the unofficial leadership of the movement by Coretta Scott King in 1968 following Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination, but turned it down),[3] for assisting the French Resistance during World War II,[4] and for being the first American-born woman to receive the French military honor, the Croix de guerre. Life...

(via)

No matter what you are going through, you are here. Take everyday as a blessing. Know that God has your back, your front, your sides-and will carry you through the good and the bad.

I thank him everyday for waking me up and allowing me to spend another day with my loves.

HAPPY Tuesday
